Pilot of training jet that crashed in Chattogram, dies

A pilot named Asim Jawad was killed in the crash of an Air Force training fighter jet in the Karnaphuli river of Chattogram. 

He died while undergoing treatment at BNS Isa Khan Hospital (Navy Hospital) in Patenga around 12.30 pm on Thursday (May 9). The injured co-pilot is also undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

In this incident, Shakila Soltana, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan City (Port Division) said, "The pilot and co-pilot of the crashed training plane of the Air Force parachuted down. A person among them named Asim Jawad died while undergoing treatment.

Earlier, the accident took place around 10:45 on Thursday.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said a YAK 130 training fighter of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed at Patenga in Chattpgram due to mechanical failure.
