The 53rd Independence and National Day of Bangladesh is being celebrated with due honor across the country on Sunday (March, 26).
People from all social levels and professions paid tribute to the people who died in Genocide of 1971 with flowers and banner-festoon at the National Memorial. After 6:30 am the memorial area was made open to the public.
Before that, President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute at the Savar National Memorial at 5:56 in the morning.
At this time, the President and the Prime Minister observed a minute of silence. A guard of honor was given by a battalion of the armed forces as a tribute to the martyrs.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Minister of Liberation War Affairs, the Cabinet Secretary, the heads of the three armed forces and the diplomats of various countries posted in Dhaka were present at this time.
Later, party president Sheikh Hasina paid tribute on behalf of Awami League at the memorial. At that time, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Matia Chowdhury, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Shajahan Khan and many others were with her.
Meanwhile, due to the VIP traffic, the movement of vehicles and people on the Dhaka-Aricha highway was suspended by law and order forces.
After the President and Prime Minister left the memorial at 6:30 am, the highway was released and the memorial gate was made open for all. people of all social levels and professions entered the memorial premises to pay their respect and love to the martyrs.
On the occasion of the day, the National Memorial premises was decorated. Brown and white colors have been used to rub each brick to enhance its beauty. And lighting has been done in the area of memorial premises. The artificial lake has been replaced and filled with new water. A water fountain has also been kept ready to increase the attraction of the area. Patriotic songs were playing throughout the memorial premises since dawn.
