Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the concerned to investigate whether there is any conspiracy or sabotage behind the recent fire incidents in various markets of the capital.
On Saturday (April 15) morning, the Prime Minister gave this directive in her opening speech at the Bangladesh Awami League Local Government People's Representative Nomination Board meeting in her official residence, Ganabhaban.
The Prime Minister also asked to investigate if BNP-Jamaat arson-terrorism was involved in the recent fire incidents in these markets. "We have to look into whether they are taking a different approach by causing incidents like fires," the Prime Minister said.
Sheikh Hasina also said that surveillance should be increased in important markets across the country. Everyone should be more aware. Everyone has to take care of their own initiative.
Stating that all efforts will continue on behalf of the government, the Prime Minister said, "The fire service cannot be overcrowded while extinguishing the fire. Strict action will be taken if there is any obstruction.”
A fire broke out in a part of the third floor of the building of New Super Market in the New Market area of the capital at around 5:40 am on Saturday. Fire service and 32 units of civil defense brought the fire under control at around 9:00 am. A joint team of the Army, Navy and Air Force assisted in rescue operations along with the fire service to control the fire. Besides, members of Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB joined RAB-Police.
