Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen advised journalists to ask the US embassy or related someone why the US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu did not meet with the BNP during his visit to Dhaka.
He said this in response to a question from journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
Regarding Donald Lu's visit to Dhaka, the foreign minister said, “He has come to strengthen the bilateral relationship between two countries. But we have some weaknesses. He also admitted that in America they are also the same in some respects. That’s why we are at the same level. There has been a very positive discussion about this.”
“And President Joe Biden wants our relationship with the United States to improve in the next 50 years,” the minister added.
Donald Lu, the US Assistant Secretary of State came to Dhaka on a two-day visit on January 14.
According to BNP sources, the party's International Affairs Committee attempted to meet with Lu. However, no meeting was held with the country’s main opposition party.
