BNP Chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia will be leaving the hospital today and will return to her Gulshan residence in the capital after being under close observation by doctors for five days.
BNP Chairperson's press wing member Shamsuddin Didar confirmed this to TheReport.live.
Shamsuddin Didar also said that medical board's decision was made after considering the tests conducted on Khaleda Zia. Khaleda Zia is accompanied by Sharmila Rahman Sinthi, wife of Begum Zia's late son Arafat Rahman Koko at the hospital.
Earlier, the BNP Chairperson was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital for a regular check-up on April 29.
Khaleda Zia has been suffering from various complications including arthritis, diabetes, dental and eye problems for a long time. She went to jail on February 8, 2008 after being convicted in a corruption case. On March 25, 2020, due to pandemic, the government granted her temporary release subject to conditions. So far, Khaleda Zia's release period has been extended six times. She has been staying at her Gulshan residence since her release.
