Dates, one of the most essential Ramadan commodities, have got a new wholesale price starting from Tk150 to Tk165, determined by the Ministry of Commerce.
The price range for ordinary or low-quality dates has been fixed while the Popular Zahidi line-up stayed at the range between Tk170 to Tk180, according to a circular on Monday the ministry stated the price determination was adjusted according to import price, duties, taxes and other associated charges.
The state minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu told the wholesaler to follow the price limit, and directed them to take required arrangements.
The pricing structure had been constructed with the welfare of the general public in mind, he added.
However, the ministry did not provide specific pricing guidelines for premium or high-end dates.
