Fire breaks out at Segunbagicha high rise

A fire broke out at a highrise apartment building in the capital's Segunbagicha area in the early hours of Tuesday (December 14).

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The fire started on the fifth floor of the 16-storey Domino-Altura building around 2:00 am, Rafi Al Faruque, duty officer (media) of Fire Service headquarters, told UNB.

As many as seven fire tenders were pressed into service and it took them 1.5 hours to fully douse the flames, he said.

An electrical short-circuit is suspected to have triggered the fire, Faruque added.
