Fire at Sweeper Colony in Kaptan Bazar; 4 people burnt

Four people were burnt in a terrible fire in the capital's Kaptan Bazar sweeper colony. However, the cause of the fire and the amount of damage is not yet known.

The fire service said that the fire broke out at 3:20 pm on Sunday (March, 26).

Confirming the incident's authenticity, Rakib, the duty officer of the fire service control room, said that a fire broke out in a tin shed house in the sweeper colony near the Jayakali temple in Kaptan bazar of the capital. After receiving the information, four units of the fire service went and started working to control the fire. Three more units joined later. 7 units of fire service brought the fire under control in about two hours.

Four burn victims have been admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. The injured are Geeta Rani Dey (65), Kanta Rani (60), Afzal Hossain (52) and Raju (36).

Raju's nephew Shiba said that they work as sweepers and they live in the colony. They were burnt in the fire early morning. But he could not tell how the fire broke out.

Dhaka Medical Officer-in-Charge, Bachchu Mia said that four men and women were brought to the hospital with burns from Kaptan bazar. However, it is not yet known about the extent of burns on their body.
