Experimental railway operation inaugurated on Padma Bridge

Operational movement of the train has been inaugurated experimentally through the Padma Bridge. Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan inaugurated the experimental train from Faridpur's Bhanga station around noon on Tuesday.

The train started its journey for the first time on the ground of Madaripur, Shariatpur and Munshiganj. This train goes to Mawa end of Munshiganj over the Padma Bridge for the first time after covering a distance of 42 km.

At 1:21 PM, the train departs from Bhanga station for Mawa station. At 2:43 PM at a speed of 30 km, it reached the Padma bridge.

Engineers say that the railway track on Padma bridge will be durable for more than a hundred years.

Meanwhile, 32 railway culverts without level crossing, 37 underpasses and 13 railway bridges have been completed on this 172 km railway from Dhaka to Jessore via Padma Bridge. The construction of 14 new stations along with the railway stations at both ends of the Padma Bridge and the work of the old six stations is in the final stage.

Loco Master Rabiul Islam feels delighted  by becoming the driver of this special train. He said, "The 'Padma Trial Special Train' has been experimentally run over the Padma bridge on Tuesday afternoon. I am happy to be the first driver of the train. I feel lucky.”
