Millions of Rohingya have taken refuge in various camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, fleeing the torture of the Myanmar army. However, many crimes including murder are often committed in these camps. A community leader was hacked to death and shot in the head in the C Block of Rohingya Camp No. 9 in Ukhiya on Monday night.
The name of the slain Rohingya community leader is Noor Habi Waqqas (51). Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station Sheikh Mohammad Ali confirmed this to The Report.Live.
He said on Tuesday morning, “About 30 people shot dead Rohingya leader Noor habi Waqqas and hacked him to death in front of Block-C/3 of Rohingya Camp No. 9 on Monday midnight. When he was taken to the IOM-run hospital in the Rohingya camp with serious injuries, the doctor on duty declared him brought dead.
Police officer Sheikh Mohammad Ali said that the body of the deceased has been sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. He also said that the process of the case is going on in this regard.
