The court rejected the bail plea of Abdus Sattar Patwari, acting office secretary of Chhatra Dal, and ordered him to be sent to jail in a case filed under the Speedy Trial Act at Paltan Police Station in the capital.
He surrendered to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam on Tuesday (October 19) and applied for bail. Following the hearing, the judge rejected his bail application and ordered him to be sent back to jail.
On April 2, 2016, a businessman named Kazi Mohidul Islam filed the case against the then Chhatra Dal president Rajib Ahsan, general secretary Akramul Hasan and 11 others under the Speedy Trial Act.
