A young Awami League leader was stabbed to death by a group of unknown attackers in Bogura's Sherpur upazila on Wednesday evening in a killing caused by possible previous enmity, police said.
The deceased is Murtoza Kawsar Avi (32), resident of the Khandakar para area of the Sherpur upazila town. He was a potential member of the ruling party's proposed committee of the Sherpur municipality unit.
Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Police Station, said Avi went to a motor vehicle service centre around 6:30 pm to wash his bike.
"At that time, around five to six men came with sharp weapons and chased him. He was left severely injured. Locals sent him to Bogura Ziaur Rahman Medical College where he was declareddead," the OC said.
