Bhashan Char Rohingya camp fire: one succumbs to injuries at CMCH

A child who suffered a burn injury in a gas cylinder leakage fire at a Rohingya camp in Noakhali’s Bhashan Char, died at Chittagong Medical College and Hospital’s (CMCH) burn unit on Saturday evening.

The deceased was identified as Russel, 6, son of Azizul Haque of cluster No 81 of the camp.

Kamal Hossain, ASI of Noakhali District Police Special Branch said Russel succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the burn unit of CMCH around 6:30 pm.

Earlier this morning, nine Rohingya people including five children sustained burn injuries in a fire which broke out in the camp.

The injured were first taken to Noakhali 250 Bed General Hospital. Later, five of them were transferred to the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital’s (CMCH) burn unit.
