Independent mayoral candidate Zayeda Khatun defeated Azmat Ullah Khan for the post of mayor in Gazipur city election. She defeated Azmat Ullah Khan by 16 thousand 197 votes and became the first woman mayor of this city. Zayeda Khatun got 2 lakh 38 thousand 934 votes. On the other hand, Azmat Ullah Khan got 222 thousand 737 votes.
