On the first day of a 48-hour blockage announced by the BNP and its supporters, arsonists set fire to a truck on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Gazipur`s Kaliakoir district this morning.
According to Firefighter Raihan Mia of Gazipur Kaliakoir Fire Station, arsonists stopped a moving vehicle and set it on fire in the Goalbatha area around 6:00 am.
He said that most of the truck`s parts, including the engine, had been damaged by fire.
The vehicle was on its way from Dhaka to Tangail, he added.
The identity of the truck`s driver could not be determined immediately.
