7cr doses to arrive within November under Covax initiative

Health Minister Jahid Maleque has urged to rely on health guidelines, vaccines and masks to tackle the coronavirus infection.

He said, the country will receive 7 crore doses under Covax initiative within November.

The minister was speaking to a programme held at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) marking the death anniversary of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day.

Mentioning the relaxation of coronavirus restrictions considering life and living Jahid Maleque said, “The vaccination drive has been boosted nationwide as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. You will wear mask and maintain social distancing. Though the lockdown has been eased for life and livelihood, we have to keep in mind that life is invaluable.”

Terming coronavirus as a disaster he said, “The pandemic hit the entire world, killed more than 40 lakh people. But the situation is under control in Bangladesh in comparison to other nations.”

BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting while the ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader graced the ceremony as chief guest.
