The frequency of metro train service in Dhaka is likely to increase from Saturday, as 26 more trains are added to the service.

The frequency of metro rail service in Dhaka is expected to increase from Saturday, as 26 new trains are added to the service.

This would help reduce the train interval time from 10 minutes to 8 minutes during peak hours (7:31am to 11:48am), he said.

However, trains from Uttara will run every 12 minutes during the off-peak hours from 11:49 am to 3:11 pm. The interval period will restore to 8 minutes from 3:12pm until 8:11pm.

Additionally, three trains will depart from Uttara between 7:10 am and 7:30 am as a special off-peak service of the DMTCL, MAN Siddique said.

"The train runs on one line and if any object comes in contact with the high voltage line, we have to break the service for safety." he added.

From Motijheel, three trains will run from 7:30am to 8 am. Then peak hours will resume from 8 am to 12:08 pm.

The off-peak hours in this section are from 12:09 pm to 3:52 pm, and peak hours will resume from 3:52 pm to 8:40 pm.

The service is now available on the Uttara-Motijheel route for approximately 13 hours every day, between 7:10 am and 8:40 pm, except Friday.

Earlier on February 12, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that stepsa are underway to improve the frequency of metro trains in response to commuters‍‍` increasing reliance on the service.

According to the DMTCL, the service currently serves over 2.7 lakh passengers per day, with each train carrying approximately 1,750 persons.
