1 detained with 12 crore worth foreign currency from HSIA

On Monday (September 13) night, authorities seized foreign currency worth Tk 12 crore from the cargo village of Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka. 

The airport authorities have detained a man named Hasan Ali in connection with this incident.

Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammad Ziaul Haque said, even though the man has been detained, no case has been registered in the police station so far.

APBN official Ziaul Haque said the members of Civil Aviation Security seized 54.75 lakh Saudi Riyals and 20,200 Singapore dollars from a box in the cargo village of the airport last night, which is equivalent to Tk 12 crore in Bangladeshi currency.

Members of an organized criminal ring is attempting to smuggle huge amounts of foreign currency abroad, according to APBN.
